To ramp up the Covid-19 treatment facilities in Guwahati, the state government is re-establishing the Covid Care Centres at Sarusajai Stadium and the Khanapara Veterinary College ground.
Assam is currently in the midst of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, and Guwahati has been recording the highest number of fresh positive cases daily. To deal with worsening situations a 400 bed facility is set up at the Sarusajai Indoor Stadium and another temporary hospital is set up at the Khanapara field with 750 beds. The Khanapara Covid Care Centre includes a 200 bed Intensive Care Unit.
On 22nd April Himanta Biswa Sarma held a review meeting with the senior authorities of health department, NHM, GMCH, PWD and others to re-set the state’s infrastructure in lines of the earlier templates to successfully fight the pandemic for a second time.
