High level inquiry committee to probe TMCH death row

The family of a deceased patient sought justice accusing Tezpur medical college hospital (TMCH) authorities of irresponsibility. In a letter to the deputy commissioner (Health) of Sonitpur today, Dr Madhav Chandra Rajbanshi, Medical Superintendent, Tezpur Medical College Hospital, announced the setting up of a high level inquiry committee to probe the incident.

Preliminary investigations have found that the deceased’s son has made false allegations against the hospital administration with some vested interests. A high level inquiry committee was constituted by the Chairman-cum-Chief Superintendent on June 11. And the committee will give a final report within 72 hours, Dr Madhav Chandra Rajbanshi said in the letter.

It may be recalled that on May 26, a 65-year-old woman named Dhanmani Gowala of Tezpur Sarupatgaon was admitted to the Covid ward of Tezpur Medical College Hospital after suffering from Covid-19. The patient was in the covid room till June 3. But since June 4, son Karmesh Goala has not been able to find her mother in the hospital room. The son alleged that The hospital authorities claimed that no Covid patient named Dhanmani Gowala has been admitted.
