IB shares list of 5,000 Pakistani Nationals with Delhi Police for verification and repatriation

Following a deadly terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam area, the Centre has taken strict action, revoking the visas of Pakistani nationals — with exceptions for those holding Medical, Diplomatic, and Long-Term Visas (LTVs).

Acting on this, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has handed over a list of around 5,000 Pakistani nationals residing in Delhi to the city police, instructing them to verify and facilitate their return to Pakistan.

The Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) provided the data to the Delhi Police Special Branch, which has passed it down to district-level teams for immediate verification. Notably, Hindu Pakistani nationals who hold Long-Term Visas are exempted from this directive.

A senior officer mentioned that districts like Central and North-East Delhi have a particularly high concentration of Pakistani nationals. Meetings have been held to expedite the verification process, and officers from the Special Branch and IB are closely monitoring the situation to ensure quick compliance.

It has been revealed that two separate lists — one of 3,000 names and another of 2,000 — were compiled, though some individuals may appear in both. Authorities are working to identify whether some of these individuals may have already exited the country.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) formally revoked the visas through an order effective from April 27. Additionally, medical visas will become invalid after April 29, although Long-Term Visas for Hindu Pakistani nationals will remain valid.

Estimates suggest about 900 Pakistani nationals are residing near Majnu Ka Tila and another 600–700 near the Signature Bridge area in Delhi.
