IMD forecasts thunderstorms and rainfall in Northeast till 24th April

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that severe heat wave conditions will continue to prevail over Gangetic West Bengal till today and in isolated pockets over Jharkhand and Bihar till the 24th of this month. The IMD said hot and humid weather will prevail over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe till Wednesday. East Uttar Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh are expected to witness warm conditions during the night today.

The weather department also forecast that widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms and lightning is expected over Arunachal Pradesh and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till the 24th of this month. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha are likely to witness isolated to scattered light and moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds from tomorrow until April 26th. The IMD said isolated light rainfall is likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada till the 26th of April, and Konkan and Goa till Monday.

Light to moderate rainfall and snowfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, are expected over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh during the same period. Meanwhile, the IMD said Delhi will witness strong surface winds during the daytime today and a generally cloudy sky with light rain tomorrow. The maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to hover between 38 and 40 degrees Celsius for the next three to four days.
