Guwahati, July 13 (NKTV): Former India batsman Yashpal Sharma, who was a part of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad, passed away due to heart attack on Tuesday. He was 66 years old at the time of his demise.
Sharma is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
The right-hander was an explosive middle-order batsman. Yashpal, who made his international debut in 1978, scored 883 and 1,606 runs in 42 ODIs and 37 Tests respectively. He was India’s second-highest run-getter in 1983 World Cup with 240 runs in eight matches.
