Gujarat Titans pacer Ishant Sharma has been penalized 25% of his match fee and received one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during Sunday’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

According to an official IPL statement, Ishant was found guilty of breaching Article 2.2, which pertains to the “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during a match.” This constitutes a Level 1 offence. The experienced fast bowler admitted to the breach and accepted the match referee Javagal Srinath’s sanction, avoiding a formal hearing.

It was a forgettable outing for Ishant, who gave away 53 runs in his four-over spell without claiming a wicket. He was substituted out in the 13th over of GT’s innings, making way for Sherfane Rutherford.

The veteran pacer has struggled in the tournament so far, conceding 107 runs in just eight overs across three matches, with only a single wicket to his name.

Despite Ishant’s struggles, the Gujarat Titans are enjoying a strong campaign. Their win over SRH marked their third consecutive victory, propelling them to second place on the points table after a season-opening loss to the Punjab Kings.
