Khelo India Asmita State Hockey League kicks off in Guwahati

The Khelo India Asmita State Hockey League kicked off at the Maulana Mohammad Tayabullah Hockey Stadium in Bhetapara, Guwahati on Thursday. The tournament was organized by Assam Hockey in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India.

Assam Hockey Secretary and Senior Representative of Hockey India Executive Board Tapan Das said eight teams in the junior category and an equal number of teams in the sub-junior category are participating in the tournament The participating districts are: Naharkatia, Dhemaji, Bangaigaon, Makum, Nagaon, Silchar, Bhergaon and Tezpur.The participating teams will be divided into two groups and league matches will be played first. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the semi-finals.The junior final will be played on March 23 while the sub-junior final will be played on March 26.The tournament was inaugurated by DK Moitral, Director, SAI Guwahati Center and Pradeep Timung, Director, Sports, Government of Assam as the chief guests.
