Guwahati, July 10 (NKTV): Two Ganja smugglers sustained bullet injuries in the police firing late last evening at Alangi area under Bishmuri police outpost in Kokrajhar district. According to Police reports Ganja smugglers were smuggling in a truck bearing registration no. NL07 AA-0430 bound for Hajipur of Uttar Pradesh from Assam.
Police detected the truck at Srirampur interstate border check gate late last evening and later seized 850 kgs of Ganja illegally smuggling. Police arrested two persons involved with smuggling Ganja.
They were identified as Ramesh Kumar of Rajasthan and Rahamadtulla Khan(Driver) of Karbi Anglong of Assam. Market value of the seized Ganja would be approximately Rs.85 lakh.
The arrested Ganja smugglers sustained bullet injuries while trying to flee from the police custody during the search operation at Alangi area. Injury persons were immediately rushed to Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital,but later referred to Barpeta medical college.
Special DGP and IGP of BTR,Dr L R Bishnoi confirmed the incident and informed that the two were involved with Ganja smuggling case. Police have to fire on them while they were trying to flee from the hands of police.

He said that police administration has been taking strict steps against the smuggling Ganja and other illegally carrying consignment via Srirampur check gate in the district.
