Guwahati, June 16 (NKTV): Arjun awardee ace boxer Lovlina Borgohain’s father Tiken Borgohain met Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at the latter’s office at Janata Bhawan today and interacted with him about her preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma handed over a cheque worth Rs. 5 lakh to Tiken Borgohain with a view to facilitate the boxer’s training and other preparations for the Olympics. He also handed over a cheque of Rs 2 lakh for the bronze medal Lovlina Borgohain won at the Asian Boxing Championship held recently at Dubai. Both the cheques were presented under State Sports Policy.
The Chief Minister also conveyed his best wishes to Lovlina Borgohain for her performance in the forthcoming Olympics. Chief Minister Sarma also interacted with the trainees of State Boxing Academy during the meeting.
F&CS and Consumer Affairs Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, Commissioner & Secretary of Sports Moloy Bora, Director Sports Pabitra Ram Khound, Secretary General of Boxing Federation of India Hemanta Kalita and other senior officers were also present during the visit of Lovline Borgohain’s father.
