Man killed in elephant attack at Digboi

Guwahati, July 21 (NKTV): A person named Chitranjan Chakraborty, aged 71 succumbed to death after he was attacked by a wild elephant in Digboi range under Digboi Forest Division at Durgabari in the wee hours on Wednesday.

On getting the information, forest personnel rushed to the site of the incident and conducted necessary formalities. A detailed report on the incident will be submitted soon.

The Range Officer has given a small assistance to the kin of the deceased for carrying out the last rites. Compensation of Rs.4 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the victim by the Environment and Forest Department after receipt of post-mortem report and other documents.
