Minister Ashok Singhal Oversees Progress of Key Development Projects in Tezpur Town

Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Ashok Singhal today conducted a thorough inspection of pivotal development projects in Tezpur Town. Commencing the day’s agenda, he scrutinized the meticulous implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, in Sonitpur district, and assessed the performance of various verticals under the Housing and Urban Affairs department, with a particular focus on municipal activities within the district.

Reiterating the commitment of the state government, Minister Singhal emphasized the safeguarding of land rights for tribal communities and forest rights for the populace in accordance with government laws. He stressed the imperative for the swift and effective execution of departmental initiatives to ensure the seamless implementation of development projects, ultimately contributing to the welfare of the citizens.

Subsequently, Minister Singhal visited town to inspect ongoing construction work facilitated by the Housing and Urban Affairs Department. Notably, the 1,000-seat town hall near Parowa Chariali, currently under construction at a cost of Rs 27 crore, received special attention. The Minister expressed optimism about its imminent completion, foreseeing it as a valuable community asset. Additionally, he examined the progress of the integrated sports project, waterfront development, and the construction of a bird observation tower at Hajrapar in ward 18 of Tezpur town. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs 24 crore, is projected for completion within the next two years. Minister Singhal anticipated that both endeavors would significantly enhance the quality of life for the residents of Tezpur and amplify the charm of Usha Nagari upon completion. The Minister was joined by Tezpur MLA Prithviraj Rabha and senior department officials during the review meeting and project inspection.

Simultaneously, Minister Singhal convened an intimate meeting with prominent citizens and intellectuals of Tezpur at the District Commissioner’s office this afternoon. Seeking valuable input, the gathering facilitated discussions on suggestions for the beautification and holistic development of Tezpur, with the participation of several dignitaries from the city.
