Modi’s Upcoming Visit to US: Trade, Defense, and Security Top the Agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the United States next week for a critical two-day meeting with President Donald Trump, scheduled for February 12-13. The discussions are expected to focus on enhancing trade relations, defense cooperation, and security, amidst growing calls from the US President for India to increase its purchase of US-made military hardware and work towards a more equitable trading partnership.

The meeting comes at a time when tensions have risen over the US’s deportation of 104 illegal immigrants, a development that has sparked considerable debate in India.

During his visit, Modi will stay at the Blair House, the official guest residence of the US President in Washington, and is scheduled to meet with top American officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.

Modi’s visit to Washington will follow his trip to France from February 10-12, where he will co-chair the AI Action Summit with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Reports suggest that while official meetings have been confirmed, discussions are ongoing about a potential meeting with tech mogul Elon Musk.
