As the Indian cricketing community eagerly anticipates the IPL’s upcoming start on March 22, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) has also marked a historic achievement of its own. The highly anticipated WPL finale took place today, where Mumbai Indians squared off against Delhi Capitals at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Mumbai, batting first, posted a total of 149, setting Delhi a challenging target. However, the defending champions showcased their strength in the second innings with a brilliant bowling performance, successfully restricting Delhi to just 141 runs, securing an 8-run victory.

With this triumph, Mumbai Indians became the first team in WPL history to win two titles, having clinched two of the three seasons contested so far. This victory highlights the immense quality and consistency of the Mumbai franchise, as their women’s team continues to mirror the success of the men’s side, which has won five IPL titles to date.

Mumbai fans have much to celebrate, as both their men’s and women’s teams continue to shine on the cricketing stage.
