New Covid-19 variant with multiple mutations detected in South Africa

Guwahati, August 31 (NKTV): With India preparing to fight with the third wave of dreaded coronavirus, a new variant of Covid-19 with multiple mutations has been detected in South Africa. The new variant is known as C.1.2 and has spread to most South African provinces and to seven other countries.

According to a preliminary study, tests to assess impact of mutations it possesses on infectiousness and vaccine resistance are still under way.
