New Department for Indigenous Faith and Culture in Assam
Guwahati, July 11 (NKTV): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday informed that the Assam Cabinet has decided to introduce a new Department for Indigenous Faith and Culture in the state. The new department will be an independent one and will not be under any ministry, the CM said.
“Assam has many tribes with their unique customs and religious beliefs. We have decided to preserve their culture and faith with institutional support through this new department” Sarma said.
The CM has asked Finance Minister Ajanta Neog to allocate a budget for the department.
