Guwahati, September 17 (NKTV): An international passenger terminal and a cargo gate has been inaugurated by the Indian and Bangladesh government to facilitate passenger travel and trade between India and Bangladesh through the Indian port of Petrapole.
Bangladesh and Indian ministers accompanied the inauguration ceremony at the Indian side in port of Petrapole. It is learned that to ease communication, about 16 lakh passport passengers travel between the two countries through the Benapole-Petrapole border every year for medical, business, education and travel. To facilitate trade and passenger travel, the Government of India inaugurated passenger terminals and cargo terminals.
The construction of this terminal will relieve the passengers from that misery. The 1305 sq ft passenger terminal has a capacity to handle 550 passengers. The building has 32 immigration counters, four customs counters and eight security counters.
