In a distressing incident in Assam’s Golaghat district, a newborn baby boy was found abandoned near a shop in Bokakhat village. Thankfully, the infant’s life was saved thanks to the timely help of a local woman who heard the baby’s cries. A crowd quickly gathered, and the baby was rushed to the Bokakhat hospital for a medical check-up.
The baby was discovered inside a cloth bag near the store. Authorities have launched an investigation to find the parents of the child, though it remains unclear who left the newborn.
To track down the person responsible, CCTV footage from the area around the shop is being reviewed. Locals have raised concerns that this could be a case of child trafficking, though the investigation will ultimately determine the truth.
This incident follows a similar tragic event in Khulicherra village, Cachar district, where the body of a newborn was found last month in a forested area. The body had been partially consumed by stray dogs. Passersby were horrified to witness the dogs feeding on the remains and alerted others to recover what was left of the baby’s body.
