In a dramatic final at Judges’ Field, Guwahati, Northeast Frontier Railways Sports Association (NFRSA) edged past Northeast United FC (NEUFC) in a penalty shootout (6-5) to lift the prestigious 70th Bharat Ratna Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy. The summit clash, held on March 13, 2025, ended in a 1-1 draw before NFRSA held their nerve in the tie-breaker to claim victory.
The match saw NFRSA’s Souvik Kar break the deadlock in the 51st minute, only for NEUFC’s Danny Meitei to equalize in the 81st minute, forcing the contest into a penalty shootout.
The tournament, organized by the Guwahati Sports Association with support from the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Assam, and District Sports Associations of Assam, featured intense competition.
