The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially assumed control of the investigation into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, sources confirmed on Saturday.

The tragic assault took place on April 22 at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 25 Indian citizens and one Nepali national, while several others sustained injuries.

In the aftermath of the attack, the Indian Army has intensified its efforts, launching large-scale search operations to locate and eliminate those responsible. The incident has triggered widespread anger across the country, leading to protests demanding decisive action against Pakistan.

Reacting strongly, the Indian government has announced a series of measures, including the suspension of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty, downgrading diplomatic relations with Pakistan, and the closure of the Attari border checkpost.
