No more ‘Dry Day’ in Assam, says Excise Department

The Excise Department has lifted the earlier order of ‘Dry Day’ on the 3rd of May from all districts of Assam as the counting of votes in all legislative assembly constituencies have been completed on the 2nd of May itself.

The Principal Secretary of the Excise Department, Avinash Joshi, has informed about the changes and have asked all districts to implement the same accordingly.

Earlier the Excise Department had ordered for Dry Day in all 34 districts to prevent any untoward incident on the day of counting of votes. However, Excise Department had also specified that for all districts where the results are declared on the 2nd of May, the order shall not be implemented on the following day.

The counting of votes for the Assam Assembly Polls 2021 was held yesterday and the results have been declared for all 126 constituencies
