Opposition members from BPF party were remained absent for straight fourth consecutive times in the Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly Budget session for the 2021-22 held at Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly House in Kokrajhar on Monday the chair.
The assembly session passed Rs.3310.67 as normal budget and Rs. 602.36 crores which has been received from SOPD for the BTC administration. The Budget session begins with general discussion on the Budget of the 2021-22 for Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly.
BTC chief executive member (CEM) and in-charge of Finance department, Pramod Boro has highlighted towards the budgets allocation for different departments across the region. Boro, in his budget speech informed that BTC administration is sailing through a very tough time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Even though the daily cases in India is declining day by day, we are still not out of danger. We have to fight it back hard unitedly to defeat the invisible enemy. Many have lost their lives due to this pandemic; my tribute and condolence to the departed soul and I do firmly stand by the families and I pray to the almighty for speedy recovery for those who are still fighting with this pandemic. Economic sector has also been affected badly due to this pandemic. But we have to keep moving and continue our developmental activities in this pandemic situation also.
“I believed that the strong NDA Government in Dispur and BTR will be able to win this battle together and speed up again economic slowdown and developmental activities”, he said. He said that the SOPD allocation for the Financial Year 2020-21 was 67178.10. Lakhs. But due to the economic slowdown during this pandemic situation the SOPD Allocation for the Financial Year 2021-22 is 60236.74 Lakhs, which is a cut of Rs.6941.36 Lakhs from current SOPD allocation.
He has emphasized that his council is stressing for massive welfare and development of Forest, Agricultural, Road communication, Health, Education department in the council. The Opposition bench is also seen nil in the budget session for straight fourth consecutive times since new government comes in the reign in BTC administration.
Boro strongly reacted to the absentee remaining from Opposition members said that it is an unfortunate situation in Bodoland Territorial Council Legislative Assembly as opposition members are not participating the assembly session.
He has termed that Opposition members are not obeying the parliamentary norms inside the assembly house. He has alleged that BPF party wants only reign, so they are not participating in the opposition bench.
