Pakistani troops violate ceasefire along LoC in Poonch, India retaliates

The Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Wednesday evening, resorting to unprovoked firing. The Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively. No casualties or damage have been reported on the Indian side so far.

This latest breach of the ceasefire comes nearly a month after Pakistani politician Anwaar ul-Haq made inflammatory remarks, calling for a jihad against India. Addressing a rally in Muzaffarabad on January 5—observed as Right to Self-Determination Day—he vowed to mobilize all available resources to push Indian forces out of Jammu and Kashmir. His comments, met with chants of “Al-Jihad, Al-Jihad,” sparked widespread condemnation, with many viewing them as a setback to peace efforts between the two nations.
