Guwahati, June 19 (NKTV): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that people with more than two children will not be eligible for selected schemes of the Government of Assam.

“The government has decided to implement population control norms in selected schemes of the state government” the CM said.

“We can’t implement two-child norms in free admission of children to schools or Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. But if we start a CM Awas Yojana, then this point may be applied” Sarma said.

Sarma also said that AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal has welcomed the government’s inotiatives on women’s education. “Most of the people asked me how many children my parents have. The opposition wants to take back Assam 70 years back but I want to take the state forward” he added.

It may be mentioned here that in 2019, the state government had decided that people with more than two children will not be eligible for government jobs.
