PM Modi criticizes UN’s irrelevance, calls for global cooperation over conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an appearance on Lex Fridman’s podcast, criticized the United Nations and other international organizations as “almost irrelevant,” citing their failure to address global conflicts like the Middle East wars and US-China tensions. He pointed out the lack of reform in these institutions, which he believes cannot effectively play their role.

Reflecting on lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic, PM Modi emphasized the need for unity in a world increasingly marked by uncertainty and conflict. He called for a shift from conflict to cooperation, advocating for a development-focused approach to international relations. He stressed the interconnectedness of nations and the importance of mutual support in facing global challenges.

This is not the first time Modi has called for reform in global institutions. Last year, he urged the UN to match its ambitions with meaningful action during his address to the UN General Assembly.
