The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his election meetings and rallies in West Bengal as the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic takes over the country.
Instead the Prime Minister has called for a high-level meeting to review the prevailing COVID-19 situation in India on 23rd April.
“Tomorrow, will be chairing high-level meetings to review the prevailing COVID-19 situation. Due to that, I would not be going to West Bengal,” read his official Twitter handle.
On the 22nd April India detected 3.14 cases with 2,104 deaths. Earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and West Bengal chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also cancelled their election rallies and meetings amid rise in Covid-19 cases.
