Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia beginning Tuesday, at the invitation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. This will mark Modi’s third visit to the Kingdom, following previous trips in 2016 and 2019.

The visit comes in the wake of Prince Salman’s state visit to New Delhi in September 2023, where he co-chaired the inaugural session of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council during the G20 Summit.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi’s upcoming visit underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its long-standing and dynamic relationship with Saudi Arabia. The two nations share a deep-rooted history shaped by centuries of socio-cultural exchanges and robust trade relations.

In recent years, the bilateral relationship has significantly expanded, transforming into a comprehensive strategic partnership. Key areas of cooperation include defence, security, energy, investment, technology, health, education, and cultural ties. Frequent high-level exchanges and growing investment flows have further solidified the bond.

The visit is expected to provide both sides with an opportunity to review the progress of ongoing initiatives and chart the course for future cooperation. Leaders are also likely to discuss pressing regional and global issues of shared concern.
