President Murmu embarks on 3-nation visit to Algeria, Mauritania and Malawi

President Droupadi Murmu embarks on a week-long three-nation visit to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi. The visit comes a year after the African Union was made a permanent member of the G20 during India’s Presidency. During her visit, President Droupadi Murmu will hold bilateral meetings and interact with the Indian diaspora. This will be the first-ever visit by the President of India to the three African nations. On the first leg of the visit, the president will visit Algeria.

During the visit, President Droupadi Murmu will hold bilateral meetings with the President of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and other major leaders. The President will also address the India-Algeria Economic Forum and the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University. On the second leg of the visit, President Droupadi Murmu will visit Mauritania on October 16. The visit to Mauritania is taking place at a time when Mauritania is holding the Presidency of the African Union. During the visit, the president will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Mauritania and will also interact with the Indian diaspora. 

On the last leg of the visit, President Droupadi Murmu will visit Malawi from the 17th to the 19th of October. During the visit, the President is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Malawi’s leadership and interact with key trade and industry leaders and the Indian diaspora. The three-nation visit by President Droupadi Murmu to Algeria, Mauritania, and Malawi aims to reaffirm India’s strong commitment to further strengthen our existing friendly and cordial relations with countries in Africa.
