Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took her oath as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. Holding a copy of the Constitution, Priyanka was accompanied by her family, including mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi, and her children, Raihan and Miraya Vadra, at the Parliament for the ceremony.

Priyanka Gandhi secured a resounding victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, winning by a significant margin of 4,10,931 votes. She defeated Sathyan Mokeri of the Communist Party of India (CPI) in a triangular contest that also involved BJP’s Navya Haridas.

Expressing her gratitude, Priyanka Gandhi shared her happiness on social media after receiving her certificate of election. She referred to the certificate as a symbol of the love, trust, and values she is committed to. “Thank you, Wayanad, for choosing me to take forward this journey towards building a better future,” she posted on X.

The Wayanad seat had been vacated by her brother Rahul Gandhi, who had previously represented the constituency before shifting to Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh after the recent general elections.

In addition to Priyanka Gandhi, Congress leader Ravindra Vasantrao Chavan also took the oath as a Member of Parliament. Chavan won the Nanded Lok Sabha seat in a by-election with 5,86,788 votes, following the death of the sitting Congress MP, Vasantrao Balwantrao Chavan.

The by-elections, which included notable contests in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, were held across 48 assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats in 15 states, with Priyanka Gandhi making her electoral debut in Wayanad.
