The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to shift all the remaining matches of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in the UAE due to the monsoon season in India in the months of September-October later this year. The announcement came after a high level meeting was held at Special General Meeting (SGM).
In the meetings it the members unanimously agreed to resume the IPL and played it later this year. Speaking to news agency ANI, Vice President of BCCI Rajeev Shukla said ” IPL has been moved to UAE for this season.” The BCCI has also further stated that they will seek for extension of time from the International Cricket Board (ICC) for the hosting of T-20 world cup in India.
Earlier, BCCI had to suspend the IPL 2021 after several players from Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings had tested positive for coronavirus.
