A violent conflict happened at the office of Rapido two-wheeler taxi service located at Ananda Nagar, Hatigaon. The conflict occurred between a few Rapido riders and the officials of the service.

Reportedly, a number of riders went to the Rapido office today claiming that their C to C (customer to customer) delivery service has been used by smugglers to transport drugs.

However, the owner and the official at the Rapido office locked the riders inside the premises with the help of some borrowed hands and beat them up. The situation turned violent and Dispur Police had to intervene.

The riders claimed that although they tried to make the officials aware about the misuse of the service as conscientious citizens, they were instead beaten up. Even the police refused to listen to them and instead sided with the officials.

However, speaking to NKTV, Prafulla Kr. Das, Officer-in-Charge of Dispur PS stated that the drugs allegations are false. The Rapido drivers have not received certain payments and so have framed this false allegation. “Do they open and check the packets they deliver? How do they know the packets contain drugs?” he asked.

The Rapido officials have filed a complaint against the riders and three of them have been brought to the police station for questioning, he added.
