Rajasthan star batter Jos Buttler roared back in form in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League with a match-winning hundred against Bengaluru at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Buttler had been in dismal form this season prior to his hundred in Jaipur, having scored just 35 runs in the first three matches. However, RR bowling coach Shane Bond was not surprised by Buttler’s blistering knock against RCB, saying it was just a matter of time. Buttler smashed his sixth IPL hundred as RR beat RCB by 6 wickets to extend their winning run in IPL 2024.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Bond said it was just a matter of time before one of Buttler or Yashasvi Jaiswal started firing since they’ve been striking the ball very well in the nets. Buttler scored an unbeaten 100 off 58 balls, hitting nine boundaries and four sixes to guide his side to victory on Saturday, April 6. His knock helped the home side chase down a 184-run target to register their fourth win of the season.
“Obviously delighted for Jos Buttler. You know we have been winning games without the opening partnerships but he and Yashasvi Jaiswal has been striking the ball very well in the nets. So it’s about time if one of them starts firing. It’s good to see Jos Buttler at his best and the boys came up with the win,” said Bond.
He went on to heap praise on RR skipper Sanju Samson, saying he’s been doing an excellent job as captain. RR moved to the top of the IPL 2024 points table with their win over RCB in Jaipur. Samson put in an excellent performance with the bat as well, scoring a 42-ball 69 while smashing eight boundaries and two sixes. He formed a game-changing 148-run partnership with Buttler after his side lost Jaiswal’s wicket in the first over itself.
“Sanju Samson has been doing an excellent job, captaining the team. His communication is excellent and the bowling choices he has been making are spot on,” Bond added.
Following their win over RCB, RR will turn their focus towards GT, with the two sides set to clash in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 10.
