Guwahati, July 27 (NKTV): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of each martyr who lost their lives in the Assam-Mizoram border row.
Addressing media persons, Sarma said “We have the right to secure our border. There have been encroachments in the last six months”. Sarma alleged that the Mizos had constructed road after encroaching upon Assam’s land. “I had proposed to solve the issue peacefully. I had talked to Zoramthanga”.
The CM has asked for the Centre’s intervention to solve the border issue.
Sarma also informed that 4,000 commandos shall be stationed along the Assam-Mizoram border area along with 12,ooo jawans.
“Mizoram has still not acted upon the Centre’s objectives” alleged Sarma.
