Residents of Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) were jolted awake by strong tremors after a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck the region. The quake hit at 5:36 am at a shallow depth of just five kilometers, lasting for around 35 seconds.
A loud rumbling sound accompanied the tremors, which may have been caused by the shallow depth and movement within tectonic plates, releasing bursts of energy. The National Centre for Seismology confirmed the event, marking an early start to the day for many in the capital.
