Tesla, under the leadership of Elon Musk, is reportedly scouting land in Maharashtra for a new electric vehicle manufacturing facility, with Pune emerging as a prime candidate. According to insights from The Economic Times, this decision comes on the heels of Musk’s meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aiming to capitalize on potential policy incentives like reduced import duties on EVs.

Strategic Considerations for Maharashtra:

• Existing Infrastructure: Maharashtra benefits from Tesla’s current operations in Pune, where the company already has an office and established supplier networks.
• Automotive Hub Status: The proposed sites in Chakan and Chikhali are in close proximity to major automotive manufacturers, enhancing the region’s appeal due to its established supply chain and skilled workforce.
