Ahead of the 78th Independence Day, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration, police and state transport department organized a bike and car rally in Guwahati on Tuesday under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan said that the main objective of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is to instill a sense of nationalism.

“We have organized this bike and car rally in accordance with the government’s instructions. For the past two years, we have been holding Har Ghar Tiranga programs annually. In line with those programs, this rally was organized today. Similar rallies are being held in various parts of Assam. The sole purpose is to foster a nationalistic spirit and ensure that everyone proudly displays their flag on 15th August,” said the Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner.

On Monday, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, joined hundreds of BJP Yuva Morcha members in a bike rally to celebrate the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign in Assam’s Tinsukia.

Earlier, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat announced the third edition of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, which will be celebrated from August 9-15 as part of the Independence Day celebrations, according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture.

Shekhawat said that the initiative aims to instill a spirit of patriotism and national pride among citizens by encouraging every Indian to hoist the national flag. The minister urged citizens to hoist the Tiranga at their homes and take a selfie with the flag.

On August 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a mass movement by hoisting the national flag at their homes. Changing his profile picture on social media to the ‘Tricolour,’ PM Modi further encouraged everyone to do the same.
