Veteran Telugu actor and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) member Posani Krishna Murali was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police on the evening of February 26. The arrest took place around 8:45 pm, following a case registered at the Obulavaripalli police station under sections 196, 353(2), and 111, along with section 3(5) of the SC/ST Act. Murali is accused of making derogatory remarks against a specific community, allegedly inciting discord.

Authorities have confirmed that he is in custody and will be presented before the Additional Judicial Magistrate in Rajampet. The arrest notice, served to his wife, stated, “The offence committed by him is cognizable and non-bailable in nature, and he is forwarded to the Hon’ble Additional Judicial Magistrate of 1st Class, Rajampet, for judicial custody.”

In a video of the arrest, Murali was seen informing the police about his health issues and ongoing medical treatment. Despite his plea, the police requested his cooperation and proceeded with the arrest after notifying his family.

This incident is not the first time Murali has faced legal action. In November 2024, he was booked for allegedly making derogatory comments against then-Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Posani Krishna Murali is widely recognized for his comedic and character roles in Telugu cinema. He has been a vocal supporter of the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party, particularly since the 2024 elections. Further updates on his arrest and legal proceedings are awaited.
