Chennai Super Kings’ batting coach Michael Hussey spoke about CSK’s blockbuster clash against RCB, MS Dhoni, and more when he visited the Super Kings Academy in Karaikudi.

Excerpts

About the game against RCB

We play RCB in our next league game. Obviously we have to try and beat RCB first and if we do that we will go into the Playoffs. We will go in with the attitude to try and win the match. If we win then everything will be okay. If we cannot win the match, we will do everything in our power to do all we can to keep it to as small a loss as we possibly can.

I mean, these things can sometimes be a distraction. We need to come in with the attitude that we need to play our best cricket. Don’t worry about the permutations and we will try to win the match. We will give our hundred percent best effort.

About MS Dhoni’s retirement

Is he retiring? I have not heard about his retirement. He keeps it very close to himself. He has not announced anything yet. I hope he keeps playing on next year and maybe another year and another year after that.

About Super Kings Academy

I am really honoured to be here. I know with CSK, we are trying to do very well in the IPL. But, we are also hoping to play an important role in helping to grow the game throughout Tamil Nadu, and this is the perfect way to do it through the academies that have been set up all around Tamil Nadu and around the world. It has been amazing to see how quickly it has been growing.

As Sriram (Super Kings Academy Head Coach) was saying we will try and grow the game and help people improve their skills. But we also want to try and help people become better characters.

Cricket is a great sport in making friends, teaching you about life skills and character that will hold you in good stead for the rest of your life in whatever you do. Hopefully we can see one or two players from here go on and play for Chennai Super Kings one day.
