Zinedine Zidane resigns as Real Madrid manager after a trophyless season

Professional football manager and former French international Zinedine Zidane has resigned as the Real Madrid manager with immediate effect after going trophyless this season. Popular football club Real Madrid have failed to pick up any trophy in the 2020-21 season.

During his tenure Zidane has won three consecutive Champions League titles and a La Liga title in his first period as manager between 2016 and 2018.

The club in a statement said “Real Madrid C. F. announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to bring an end to his current spell as head coach of our club. We must now respect his decision and express our gratitude for his professionalism, dedication and passion over the years and what he means to Real Madrid”, they added.

Real Madrid had finished second in the La Liga, were knocked out of the champions league and also were beaten by a low level club Alcoyano in the round of 32 of Copa del Rey.
